greetings all...
as mentioned before, harvest moon seems to be on a lot of people's
'wish list'. so i put together the best versions of all the tracks
i currently have.
fergal and i only got as far as track 4, and there are two by other people.
i am hoping that people can organize themselves into doing the remaining
tracks so that, using the net as a group, we can pool our efforts to
complete the album, and also to correct the chords/tabs already offered.
(please send me a copy of anything you do by e-mail, just to make sure)
the file below contains the six tracks i have.
the version below of harvest moon by bill brown, varies only slightly from
what we and others worked out, and it is used here because it is the most
comprehensive. the only point of real disagreement is the chords played at
the end of lines 1 and 2 of the verses - D, DM7, A, Bm7.
i may post/include the others if required.
any corrections on any track - please post/mail them.
as always, and especially because this is a compilation of tracks,
please keep the credits intact.
everyone is properly credited in the file that appears below, firstly with
the initial track-listing, and again in the notes after the song.
cheers
:-)

intro: in other words:
slide an 'F' shape from 8th to 10th and back;
slide a 'D' shape from 5th to 7th;
slide an 'A' shape from 3rd to 5th (don't play the high-e string)
and finally play F G and D!)
the indications here about what position to play the chord in are
not gospel! change 'em!
the only dodgy chords are when you sing 'i was thinkin of you and me'
four times. any suggestions for this appreciated. does neil get those
big bass notes at the end of each line by tuning the low-e string down
to a 'D'? or perhaps even the whole guitar down to D?
Harvest Moon - Neil Young
Tabbed by Bill Brown (brownw@cs.uregina.ca) 1993.11.07
I was lucky enough to have a video tape ready for taping when Neil
did this one on SNL (Nov 6/93 [rebroadcast]) The camera work was
great. The only chords I could not see for certain was the Em and
A for the chorus, but I'm pretty sure that's what they are.
Chords
Low E is tuned down to D.
B = beat
h = harmonic
v = strum down
^ = strum up
I don't know the proper name for some of these strange
chords, so I'll just tab the different parts.

I actually play it like this:

This keeps it in the key of Am, which is what I use when I play along

To tell you the truth, I feel kinda funny answering this request, but
since I've been asked in person if I can play this song, why not?
Basically, most people seem surprised that this song has only one
chord, D major. Yep. That's all. There are two basic riffs. The first
is a slide from the fourth string (D) open to the twelfth fret.
e-|---------------------------
B-|---------------------------
G-|---------------------------
D-|-0-0-/12-/12----12\--------
A-|---------------------------
E-|---------------------------
The second riff is based on an open D chord.
e-|--------0-----2--2-----3--2---
B-|--3--3-----3--------3---------
G-|------------------------------
D-|------------------------------
A-|------------------------------
E-|------------------------------
As with all my TABs, listen to a recording for rhythm...
